This Android Malware Is Hacking WhatsApp & Stealing Your Private Pics, Chats, Videos

The cyber theft and fraud does not cease as new malware get discovered each day!
A new malware called ‘WolfRAT’ is targeting messaging apps, such as WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and Line on Thai Android devices.
Read to find out more…

How Does the Malware Attack Your WhatsApp, Messenger, Line?

With easy access to the internet, almost every person on this planet uses messaging apps like WhatsApp, Facebook messenger among others.
The users of these apps are being misled into installing a Trojan on their Android phones that spies on them by collecting photos, videos, messages, and recording audio.
It targets users of Whatsapp, Facebook Messenger, and Line in the guise of a Google Play or Flash update and gets them to install the trojan on their phones after which it not only collects different types of data but also sends them to the trojan command and control (C2) servers.
Campaigns targeting Thai users and their devices were identified with some of the C2 servers located in Thailand.
The C2 server domain names contained Thai food names and panels contained Thai JavaScript comments. The interesting domain names are used to entice users to click/visit the C2 panels without much disruption.

What is Known of the ‘WolfRAT’?

Cisco Talos, an intelligence team named this Trojan ‘WolfRAT’. According to their research, it is based on a leak of the previously leaked DenDroid malware family. DenDroid’s source code was leaked in 2015 and since then, other malware like WolfRAT have come out to attack unsuspecting users.
Talos said in a blog post it highly believes that this modified version of the malware is operated by an outfit known as ‘Wolf Research’, appears to be closed but rebranded as ‘LokD’, posing an active threat.
In March, PC Risk reported that LokD belongs to the ransomware family called Djvu, which encrypts victim’s files, renames them, and creates a ransom note. LokD renames encrypted files by appending the ‘.lokd’ extension to their filenames.
During the VirusBulletin conference in 2018, CSIS researchers Bsenoît Ancel and Aleksejs Kuprins did a presentation on Wolf Research and its offensive arsenal, Talos noted. Ancel and Kuprins mentioned an Android, iOS, and Windows remote-access tool (RAT).
The researchers claim the WolfRAT is very likely to be run by Wolf Research, an organization that used to create interception and espionage-based malware. While the organization may not be formally active, its members are likely to be functioning.
Wolf is headquartered in Germany with offices in Cyprus, Bulgaria, Romania, India, and (possibly) the U.S. Wolf closed after the CSIS presentation but reemerged based in Cyprus as the aforementioned LokD.

Talos reported the malware is most likely used as an intelligence-gathering tool for actors that can be packaged and sold, based on its tracking of Wolf Research’s past activities. Talos called the actor’s operations were carried out in a ‘lazy manner’.
There was a lot of copy/paste from public sources, dead code, unstable code, and open panels etc..
However, it was also added by them that the ability to gather data from phones is a big win for the operator because people send a lot of sensitive information via messages and are mostly unafraid about their privacy and security. Hence the messaging apps being on their radar.

WhatsApp Group video calling now supports up to 8 people on Android, iOS

WhatsApp on Tuesday said it will now allow up to eight people to connect on a group video call as an increasing number of people turn to digital platforms to connect with friends and family amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Facebook-owned company said over the last month, people on average are spending over 15 billion minutes talking each day on WhatsApp calls, well above a typical day before the pandemic.
“…we see that people all over the world are turning to voice and video calling on WhatsApp more than ever before. Group calling has been particularly useful and our users have asked to connect with more people at once,” WhatsApp said in a blogpost.
Starting Tuesday, the company is doubling the number of participants one can have on a WhatsApp video or voice call from 4 to 8 people at a time, it added.
WhatsApp emphasized that like written messages, all calls on its platform are protected with end-to-end encryption.
“We have built group calling in a way that makes it available for as many users as possible, including people on lower-end devices and slow network conditions,” it added.
WhatsApp said that to access the new, higher participant limit on WhatsApp calls, all participants in a call need to update to the latest version of WhatsApp available on iPhone or Android.
Video calling tools like Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and others have also seen a significant jump in userbase and traffic as people connect while maintaining social distancing amid the coronavirus outbreak.
Last week, Facebook had introduced Messenger Rooms that will soon hold up to 50 people with no time limit.
It had added that the company will also add ways to create rooms from Instagram Direct, WhatsApp, and Portal.
Noting that between WhatsApp and Messenger, more than 700 million accounts participate in calls every day, Facebook had said, adding that video calling on Messenger and WhatsApp more than doubled in many countries.
Also, views of Facebook Live and Instagram Live videos have also increased significantly in March, it said.

YouTube app to save you from long scrolls by hiding video comments

YouTube is about to bring one of the biggest changes to its app– the ability to collapse the comments section to save you from long scrolls.
For now, people have to scroll through the entire comments tab under a video to see the recommendations. But soon they will be able to reach the particular section quickly without wasting those precious seconds.
This change will be coming to both Android and iOS versions of the YouTube app in the ‘next few weeks’ as mentioned in Google’s updated support page.
The company says it will be adding a comments preview section right below the YouTube video’s description that can be expanded by tapping on the dedicated icon.
When collapsed, you will see other videos under the current one. “From the preview, simply tap anywhere to view all, like, and reply to comments.
.Also Read:- How IOT AND AI can be used to replace manpower in agriculture
We hope this makes it easier for you to connect with others and discuss the video you’re watching – in our early experiments, we found that more people are writing comments with the new design,” said YouTube.
However, it has been added that since the comment preview section has a limited space, it is not for sure if the pinned comment by the creator will show up in the preview section or not.
Some other changes have been made as well. The videos in the watch next section will now have a larger thumbnail and longer titles so you get more information about the video at a glance.
There will also be some channel icons below every video to “help you recognize your favorite creators while you scroll through the feed.”

Furthermore, users will see a new type of content alongside videos to watch next. This includes everything from Community Posts from your selected creators to text updates, polls, images, GIFs, and more. People will also see YouTube Mixes as additional content.
YouTube Mixes are curated playlists made by YouTube featuring videos from the channel you’re watching, or that you recently watched.

Blockchain Technology Explained 2020

Blockchain Explained: A Simple Explanation of How It Works

Blockchain technology allows consumers and suppliers to connect directly, removing the need for a third party.
It provides a decentralized database or digital ledger of transactions that everyone on the network can see. Or we can say it is a simple way of transaction.
Let us study through this article about blockchain technology, where it is used, who invented blockchain technology, what are its advantages and disadvantages, is it safe to use, etc. Blockchain Technology Explained
Blockchain technology is associated with cryptocurrencies like bitcoin and others.
Have you ever imagined a world where there is not necessary to validate any sale or purchase with no receipts, no bank documents and no need for registering or disposal of the property with the concerned government department?
We know that buying or selling of any property is put in a record. Before taking a commercial decision we always want all the information should be available in one place. This is possible only when a technology of code writing in financial system circles all over the world. Isn’t it. And this developed the root for Blockchain Technology.

While doing any transaction the main problem is about trust. Can one trust another party? This made a need for legally binding stamps and seals and to maintain records.
Several centuries ago, when populations and commerce were both a tiny fraction of what they are now, some communities maintained a ledger of all financial transactions, which was open to public scrutiny and anything mentioned in the ledger acquired the status of truth.
Gradually do you know what happened, these records become voluminous and to keep them or to maintain them was very difficult. And so it became the function of government departments and banks and was no longer freely available to the public. Let us study through this article about the pros and cons of Blockchain technology.

What is Blockchain Technology?

A Microsoft Excel Sheet file in your computer or laptop with the details of some of your transactions is known as a ledger.
If your Excel file is copied to hundreds of your friend’s computers and connected to each other forming a network is known as a distributed ledger. And if there will be a technology to update this Excel sheet whenever you or your friends update a ledger.
Therefore, blockchain is nothing but a digital ledger. That is a book containing accounts to which debits and credits are posted from books of original entry.
A blockchain is an anonymous online ledger that uses a data structure to simplify the way we transact. Without the help of a third party, blockchain allows users to manipulate the ledger in a secure way.
It protects the identities of the users. This way blockchain is a more secure way to carry out transactions. Each list of records in a blockchain is called a block. That is why it is known as a blockchain because the various growing list of records i.e. blocks are linked and secured.

Do you know who invented Blockchain Technology?

In 2008, Blockchain Technology was invented by Satoshi Nakamoto for use in the cryptocurrency bitcoin, as its public transaction ledger.
He aims at creating the decentralized Bitcoin ledger and on the other hand, the blockchain was to allow users to control their own money so that no third party, not even the government, would be able to access or monitor it.
Blockchain for bitcoin made it the first digital currency to solve the double-spending problem without the need for a trusted central authority or central server.

Why Blockchain technology is required?

The blockchain technology is a method that brings everyone to the highest degree of accountability. With the help of this technology no more transactions will be missed, human or machine errors will be minimized, etc.
Even nowadays major banks are experimenting with this technology as they can use it for money transfers, record keeping, and other backend functions.
As an un-alterable ledger in real-time, it enables them to track documentation and authenticate ownership of assets digitally. Also, Indian IT service providers like Infosys and TCS companies are using this technology to create core banking platforms for banks. Related:- Sodium Batteries will Replace Lithium-ion Ones, says Scientist C N R Rao

Advantages of Blockchain Technology

It will allow smart devices to speak to each other better and faster.
– The blockchain mechanism brings everyone to the highest degree of accountability. Therefore, solves the problem of manipulation.
– The data that belongs to us we can own that is online identity and reputation will be decentralized.
– Cryptocurrencies will take power from the government to control the value of currencies and hand it to people.
– It will allow a middleman-free way to exchange assets.
– It will allow the removal of intermediaries that are involved in record keeping and transfer of assets.
– It provides durability, reliability, and longevity with the decentralized network.
– The data that are entered in blockchain-based systems are immutable which prevents fraud through manipulating transactions and the history of data. Therefore, all the transactions can be investigated and audited easily.

Challenges of Blockchain Technology

– To verify all the transactions huge power i.e. electricity is required.
– There should be security about the private key. Every time private key must remain secret because revealing it to third parties is equivalent to giving them control over the bitcoins secured by that key.
Also, it is necessary to have a back up of the private key so that it can be protected from accidental loss. We know that if it is lost ones cannot be recovered and the funds secured by it are lost forever.
– We know blocks in a chain must be verified by the distributed network and it can take time. So, transaction speed can be an issue. Related:- What Is Blockchain Technology?

Is Blockchain technology safe to use?

Hope from the above discussion, it is clear that no doubt blockchain architecture can significantly bring down the costs and reduce inefficiencies in the financial sector.
As it allows two parties to execute a transaction without any intermediary. Without any human intervention, blockchain allows financial institutions to execute and verify transactions discretely.
And transactions are continuously maintained and verified in ‘blocks’ of records.
With the advancement of technology and the development of society the main goal of the government is to provide a method for a secure way of transactions.
Whether methods are advanced or new technologies are emerging but the goal is the same. As, blockchain allows consumers and suppliers to connect directly, removing the need for a third party.

About India’s first Blockchain-Based network

When three online bill-discounting exchange platforms came together, the first blockchain-based network went live and implemented a solution for their operations.
The three platforms that offer Trade Receivables Discounting System (TReDS) are the Receivables Exchange of India, A.TReDS and M1xchange that implemented the use of blockchain in the enterprise financial segment.
Let us tell you that Receivables financing is one of the fastest-growing and most efficient trade finance mechanisms for small businesses to gain credit.
US-based MonetaGo has designed and implemented the production solution. No doubt the technology will allow working with the other exchanges to achieve shared goals without sharing specific data. Read Also: Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Computing and The Laws of encryption
Do you know about Trade Receivables? These are the amounts billed by a business to its customers when it delivers goods or services to them in the ordinary course of business or it is the total amount receivable to a business for sale of goods or services provided as a [art of their business operations.
Trade receivables consist of Debtors and Bills Receivables. Due to credit sales Trade receivables arise.
Trade Receivables = Debtors and Bills Receivables
On the other hand discounting is the process by which an accepted draft or bill of exchange is sold for early payment to a bank or credit institution at less than face value after the bank deducts fees and applicable interest charges.
The bank or credit institution then collects full value on the draft or bill of exchange when the payment comes due.
RBI introduced TReDS to facilitate financing trade receivables of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from corporate buyers through multiple financiers.
Without any cryptocurrency being used for settlement, the project has been implemented. As we know that Cryptography involves creating written or generated codes that allow information to be kept secret.
Receivables Exchange of India (RXIL) is promoted by the National Stock Exchange and Small Industries Development Bank of India (Sidbi). Related: Exide’s EV Battery Plant with Swiss-based Leclanche Operational by Dec in Gujarat

PS4 Price in India Drops to Rs. 29,990, New 1TB Bundle Available Mid-September

The 1TB PlayStation 4 has a new MRP in India: Rs. 29,990, Sony India has confirmed to Gadgets 360.PS4 Price in India Drops to Rs. 29,990, New 1TB Bundle Available Mid-September . That’s an effective price drop of nearly 11 percent, considering the PS4 was previously priced at Rs. 33,650 at the start of the year, thanks to a Goods and Services Tax (GST) cut on consumer electronics. The new Rs. 29,990 1TB PS4 (Slim) bundle is called ‘Mega Pack’ and will come with three games: the 2018 critically-acclaimed God of War, the 2017 award-winning Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition, and the 2016 bestselling PS4 game of all time Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. Not the first time that God of War will be offered in a bundle, but this is the first time we’ll be getting this particular combination in India.

The new 1TB PS4 ‘Mega Pack’

The new 1TB PS4 ‘Mega Pack’ bundle will be available mid-September in India, Sony India said, and will also come with three free months of PlayStation Plus membership. That makes this the same bundle as the ‘Mega Pack’ that Sony launched in Hong Kong in August. It was priced at HKD 2,480 (about Rs. 22,800), which means those of us in India are looking at a premium of roughly Rs. 7,000. Considering the various taxes in play, that’s what we’d expect.
The Mako Reactor was the first to bring the word of the new PS4 price in India, claiming the new aforementioned 1TB PS4 bundle would be available next week on Amazon, Flipkart, Croma, Reliance Digital, and Games The Shop among other online and offline retailers. Currently, the 1TB PS4 bundle featuring God of War, Uncharted 4, and GT Sport comes in at Rs. 28,990 on Flipkart, while the newest (available) 1TB PS4 bundle is the one with Red Dead Redemption II over on Amazon at Rs. 31,990. That makes the new offer a good one. Considering Sony India is pushing the PS4 MRP down to Rs. 29,990 with three games, expect prices of existing bundles to be slashed as well.
If you were hoping for a price cut on the 500GB PS4, that’s been discontinued in India, per The Mako Reactor. Of course, leftover stocks are still available both online and offline in India, but you shouldn’t bother considering it’s priced similarly and the sizes of games these days. For instance, the aforementioned Red Dead Redemption II comes in at nearly 100GB. And that’s just one game.
And if you were hoping to jump on the 4K bandwagon with the PS4 Pro, there’s no price drop on that just yet. It retains its Rs. 38,710 MRP, though you can find it starting at Rs. 34,990 online in India. It’s possible that Sony India might announce seasonal discounts around Diwali late next month, though it’s more likely that said discounts will apply to the PS4 Slim, rather than the PS4 Pro.
For those in the market for the cheapest console online, the disciples 1TB Xbox One S bundle — with Minecraft, Forza Horizon 3, and Sea of Thieves — is your best bet at Rs. 21,990 on Amazon and Flipkart. If you’d like to have the option of using discs, you’ll need to fork over a thousand or more for single-game bundles. Its 4K counterpart, Xbox One X, meanwhile starts at Rs. 34,990 with zero games. Naturally, you’ll get a better price if you wait for sales.
Both Sony and Microsoft are expected to announce new consoles — PS5 and Project Scarlett, as they are currently known — in 2020.

1.       Everyone
2.       My Contacts
3.       Nobody

4.       High priority notifications – This notification is shown on the top part of your mobile phone.

7th WhatsApp from Facebook tag

This tag doesn’t change anything for functionality or usability prospect for users. But with this label, Facebook started to mark its territory. According to BBC, the idea of adding the label is marking the start of the “long process” of integration of different platforms.

There is a huge demand for content that involves formats, such as photos, videos, news, and games on mobile. Therefore, we feel that we must elevate our ‘ecosystem’ establishment from being a basic user system towards a content- focused platform. Later this year, we will bring new service-driven apps catering to segments, such as e-commerce and O2O service.”
APUS has set up its game sector recently to offer a comprehensive content experience. The two games shown at this ADTECH event are the best examples of Eco-System establishment strategy. Amazing Fishing (download link), an easy and fun fishing game, and Pot Shot (download link), a brand new agile and casual type of cannon shooting game, help users have fun while gaining knowledge.
CUTCUT, the AI photo-editor, already launched in India, enjoys more than 10 million downloads on Google Play. The AI technology embedded in the app has the power to calculate the shape of the figure instantly. Tens of millions of photos have been shared from CUTCUT in the past 2 months onto users’ Instagram and Facebook accounts as the app offers varied backgrounds, WhatsApp statuses, and stickers for free downloading, editing and sharing. According to Google Play, CUTCUT is ranked No.1 in the Indian market in the category of photo taking since its debut in January 2019.
The app is a result of APUS’ in-house sophisticated big data analytics and its user-driven application development philosophy. APUS has created an overseas app index based on the big data collated via its worldwide users. The index offers profound insights into user profiles in many countries including India. These apps are launched after a thorough internal analysis of the demands of the end users in the country.
“Taking VidMax as an example, as per our big data analysis, the majority of our Indian users are young, typically defined as millennials, with an average age of 18-25 years – comprising college students and young careerists. Consuming video content and photo sharing are both central to their content consumption patterns. More than 40 percent of Indian users in India like to watch videos online, use or browse music-related apps every day. As far as photo sharing is concerned, Indian users, mostly women, are keen to take selfie photos with their smartphone. We strongly believe CUTCUT is popular because of it,” said, Ms. Jing Young, Head, APUS India Office and General Manager, South Asia Region.
Also, the company will focus on the APUS ecosystem in India as a part of the company’s market development strategy. APUS has entered into partnerships with a host of local companies during ADTECH 2019, including video providers such as ShareChat, Vmate, ROPOSO, INJOY, KLUFY, and Flickstree and two news publishers —India Today and News point.
In the future, more content and service developers, along with publishers, are expected to join hands with APUS and be a part of its ecosystem to improve users’ experience on the mobile.
