Intel launches 3rd-gen Xeon Scalable processors to help businesses deploy AI solutions faster
Intel has introduced its 3rd-gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors that enable customers to accelerate the development and use of artificial intelligence (AI) and ongoing analytics workloads in data centers.
Intel’s new 3rd Gen Xeon scalable processors widely implement AI classification and training on general-purpose CPUs, including image classification, recommendation engines, speech recognition, and language modeling.
Facebook recently announced that 3rd-gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors are the foundation for its new Open Compute Platform (OCP) servers, and other major CSPs including Alibaba, Baidu and Tencent have announced that they will be rolling out next-generation processors Have been.
Intel is furthering its investment in built-in AI acceleration in the new 3rd Gen Intel Xeon scalable processor through the integration of bfloat16 support into the processor’s unique Intel DL Boost technology.
Bfloat16 is a compact numeric format that uses half the bits as today’s FP32 format but achieves comparable model accuracy with minimal – if any software changes required, the company claims.
The addition of Bfloat16 support accelerates entry performance in both AI training and CPU. Supports Intel-optimized delivery bfloat16 for key intensive learning frameworks (including TensorFlow and Pytorch) and is available through the Intel AI Analytics Toolkit.
Intel also distributes bfloat16 optimization in its OpenVINO toolkit and ONNX runtime environments with ease of querying.
The 3rd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable Processor (codenamed “Cooper Lake”) offers Intel’s 4- and 8-socket processors. The processor is designed for deep learning, virtual machine (VM) density, in-memory databases, mission-critical applications, and analytics-intensive workloads.
As part of the 3rd-gen Intel Xeon Scalable Platform, the company also announced the Intel Optane persistent Memory 200 Series, which allows customers to manage data sensitive workloads such as in-memory databases, dense virtualization, 4.5 per socket Provides up to TB. Analytics and High-powered Computing.
For systems that store data in all-flash arrays, Intel announced the availability of its next-generation high-capacity Intel 3D NAND SSD, Intel SSD D7-P5500 and P5600.
These 3D NAND SSDs are Intel’s latest triple-tier cell (TLC) 3D NAND technology and AI and analytics workload and advanced features to meet the rapid IO requirements and to improve IT security and data security. Designed with a low-latency PCI controller.
Intel also revealed its upcoming Intel Stratix 10 NX FPGAs, its first AI-optimized FPGAs targeted for high-bandwidth, low-latency AI acceleration.
Intel Stratix 10 NX FPGAs include integrated high-bandwidth memory (HBM), high-performance networking capabilities, and new AI-optimized arithmetic blocks called AI Tensor blocks, including low-precision multiples commonly used for AI model arithmetic. Contains dense arrays of.
Why It’s Important: AI and analytics open up new possibilities to customers in a wide variety of industries, including finance, healthcare, industrial, telecommunications and transportation.
The IDC estimates that by 2021, 75% of commercial companies will use the AI1 app. By 2025, IDC estimates that approximately one-fourth of all data will be created in real time, with 95% of the volume of various Internet of Things (IoT) devices growing.
Unparalleled Portfolio Width and Ecosystem Support for AI and Analytics: Intel’s new data platform, along with a growing ecosystem of partners using Intel AI technology, enables businesses to monetize their data by implementing Intelligent AI and analytics services.
When products are available: The 3rd General Intel Xeon Scalable Processor and Intel Optane Fixed Memory 200 Series are shipping to consumers today. In May, Facebook announced that 3rd Gen Intel is the foundation for its new Open Compute Platform (OCP) servers, the Xian Scalable processors, and other major CSPs, including Alibaba, Baidu and Tencent, have announced that they are adopting next-generation processors.
General OEM system availability estimation in the second half of 2020 Intel SSD D7-P5500 and P5600 3D NAND SSDs are available today. And Intel Stratix 10 NX FPGA 2020 are expected to be available in the second half.
